Birthday Meme
5 July , 2007
I’ve seen this on a couple of sites and it looks fun so I thought I would start it here. What you do is this:
Go to http://www.wikipedia.org/ and type in your birthday (only month & day). Then you write down 3 events, 2 births and 1 holiday. Maybe write why those events appeal to you. Try and include a baby photo too. So here is mine….
6th May
This is moi 1975! Woohoo
Events:
1682 – Louis XIV of France moves his court to Versailles. Extravagance, decadance, frivolity, art, beauty, opera, luxuriance… yeah, I could live with that. Somebody peel me a grape!
1835 – James Gordon Bennett, Sr. publishes the first issue of the New York Herald. When I was a kid growing up in London if people swore they would often say “Gordon Bennet!” . I wondered if this was him? Apparently so; it is associated with his shocking and distressing newspaper articles. There you go. Problem solvered.
1940 – John Steinbeck is awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his novel The Grapes of Wrath. I must admit I haven’t been able to finish this book but one of my all time favourites is Of Mice and Men.
Birthdays:
1915 – Orson Welles, American director (d. 1985). The greatest practical joker of all time!
1961 – George Clooney, American actor. Couldn’t resist. Oh George, we have so much in common….lol.
Holiday:
The International No Diet Day (INDD) is an annual celebration of body acceptance and body shape diversity. This day is also dedicated to raise awareness of the dangers in diets. I think this has just become my most favourite holiday of the year! Let them eat cake!!!! Hurrah!

This looks like fun! What a gorgeous photo!
