This week

Books: Unfortunately I have been unable to read anything this week apart from recipe books – what’s for dinner??? and gossip magazines at the doctor’s surgery! I was crook with a cold and also had my eldest son return from his Dad’s. So have been busy running the taxi service to and from school on top of the usual baby wrangling duties. I have looked at a few new blogs; The Hoarder’s Daughter, Stuff about little kids, there are more – but didn’t think to bookmark them while I read them so they are lost to me for now.
Writing: Have been able to do some writing about Duwamish – a very colourful character in the curiosity shop – though this location may change as the story progresses. I managed to sent a family news email to friends and family. Exciting!!
Stuff and Things: Smallest boy ( 11 months) is starting to pick up signing. This week he started responding with lots of clapping and hand waving. I have been signing to him for a few months so I’m hoping once his fine motor control gets a bit better he will start developing his signing. Animal noises are really big with him at the moment. Elephants and dogs. Ducks and frogs sound like dogs – an “oof” sound – maybe because the words duck, dog and frog are similar? He has been telling me about the flowers on our crockery for a few weeks now – he sniffs! So cute. And he has made the connection between cars and other vehicles with a brmm noise. It’s fun. May need to look at a new baby category – it’s going to be rather busy here soon as we are trying for another.
We have all the grandparents visiting from Perth this weekend so I am preparing for the onslaught. They haven’t seen the kids since April so are hanging out for hugs and tickles. I will enjoy having my Mum here and being spoilt for a few days ie; someone else hanging out the endless baskets of laundry!
Dr Who is back! Hurrah. Dodgy aliens and stupendous plots. I love it.

Sniffing flowers on the crockery–how adorable! Very clever to make the connection, too, and at 11 months. Smart little cookie.
I love Dr Who too !
Isn’t it a wonder to watch those young minds expand and learn? Their wyew light up with every new discovery, and all of life is a discovery for them.
